Hello everyone! It's a great pleasure to read everything you've posted down there. <3 So let me introduce myself.
My name is Arina, I'm 20 and currently I'm a student of Novgorod State University. Studying linguistics for me is a chance to get close to languages which I like the most. Now I learn English and German, but my dream is to learn Swedish and Finnish.
I've been living in Novgorod for 2 years and from a view of kind of a "tourist" here I can say that this small town is so nice that feels like home every time. Now I live in a dorm and it's an adorable experience, like living with all your friends (and possible friends) all together. But as well as I like Novgorod my hometown(which is not so far away) is precious to me and sometimes homesick gets me.
As for my hobbies, like all of us I like reading books, listening to music and watching movies. But not so long ago I've got interested in flowers and making different accessories(really want to advise to someone who is looking for a new hobby, it's unbelievably relaxing). Aslo taking care of animals is very important for me as I grew up surrounded by plenty of animals.
What concerns my character, it's not so easy to describe. We always expect us to be better than we are. But I thing I'm totally a positive person, I always try to be brave and strong and help others in different situations. I truely believe that when you laugh, you forget about all the troubles and it's the best way to solve them - just let it go C:

I like that you study linguistics, I have always wanted to learn another language. I work with people with disabilities and learning another language, especially ASL would help me communicate with them as well as others around me. I also would really like to get the dorm experience, hopefully I can do that next semester. I fear being homesick and away from my family. It would be nice to make more friends on this campus. I have the same hobbies as you. Is there certain music or movies that you like? I really like what you said about laughing makes us forget about our troubles. You are absolutely right. Keeping a smile on our face and being positive makes life so much easier :)

DeleteTrust me, there is nothing to be scared of living in the dorm away from your family. Arfter some time you'll feel the sence of community there and will probably call it(and everyone living there) the second home and family. it's truely the best time in my life and I hope it would be the same for you!
As for my favorite music and movies, it's not easy to say because I usually listen or watch things over and over again if they realy got me. And it doesn't matter if it's a horror, folk music, etc.

DeleteI would like to learn them because I'm very interested in Scandinavian culture. Their customs, mythology are so exciting for me. But their languages are the main part of the culture, so it would be a real crime not to learn this aspect.
As for my favorite book, I like Russian classic so much, especially Bulgakov "Master and Margarita". I know for sure that there is an English version of it, so if you're interested, you know what to do :D It may seem a bit strange at first, but it reveals a lot of moral problems.
And what is your favorite one?
It is hard for me to pick a favorite book, I love so many! The Harry Potter series is definitely a top choice, but I also enjoyed The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare

ReplyDeleteHi there! Your personality seems lovely and genuine and I believe if we had gone to the same college we would easily have become fast friends! You're interests and hobbies reflect some of mine and I too am in love with animals and their relaxing natures. I am also fascinated and slightly envious at your linguistics major and dream to learn more. I really hope you do! Hopefully we can get to know each other more in the coming weeks!
